The puppy-themed altcoin, and so-called “Dogecoin Killer,” has unleashed a first-ever product into the crypto sphere: a “.shib” Internet domain name.
Specifically, Shiba Inu developers are working closely with Web3 domain player D3 to introduce a “.shib” internet and blockchain domain to the market. Part of D3’s mission is to develop and launch the first tokenized marketplace for Web3-interoperable DNS domains. The D3 platform enables modern, interoperable digital identities that integrate existing Internet infrastructure with Web3 ecosystems. In this capacity, D3 will be working with the Shiba Inu team to bring real, usable domains to the Shib ecosystem.
This initiative is said to integrate traditional Internet and Web3 ecosystems to deliver enhanced utility, security, and universal access for what the company calls “real Web3 domains.” Moreover, the “.shib” domain name would in and of itself support transparency and accountability initiatives of decentralized blockchains in that it would tie a wallet’s owner to a domain name that can be used as proof of identity on blockchain applications. They do not, however, work across the Internet through browsers, email, or mobile devices.
For those unfamiliar with Shiba Inu, the guiding tenets of the Shiba Inu ecosystem are spelled out in a “woof paper” (available at the ShibaToken.com website & importantly not a white paper). In fact, the woof paper uses canine terms to describe how returns can be generated from one’s Shiba Inu tokens: “dig” (provide liquidity), “bury” (stake tokens), and even “fetch” (exchange one token for another). Tokens used in turn generate “Woof” returns in the form of Bone tokens that are distributed to”Puppy Pools” (token pools). The Shiba Inu ecosystem itself follows this path as well. With a strong foundation, Shiba Inu was developed to answer a simple question: “What would happen if a cryptocurrency project was 100% run by its community?” In response, the SHIBArmy’s base united in favor of the ecosystem’s spirit of creating something out of nothing and a professed love of Shiba Inu dogs.
Will this unleashed development make Shiba Inu the top dog memecoin? Only time will tell!
